COMMON QUERIES
Have a question you’d like to ask? I’m committed to giving clients the best care and experience I can. There’s no such thing as a bad question when it comes to mental health. Check out the answers to the FAQs below, and don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any additional questions.
HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?
A typical course of CBT lasts between 8-14 sessions, depending on the problem we're working on. However, everyone is different, you might find you achieve your aims quicker, or you might find you need more sessions to get where you want to be. You're not tied into a specific number of sessions and I very much aim to tailor treatment to your needs.
WHAT DOES TREATMENT LOOK LIKE?
Initially we'll spend time trying to understand your difficulties and what is keeping your problem going. Together we'll look at patterns of thoughts, behaviours and emotional reactions for situations that feel difficult for you. Then I'll help you to learn and practice tools, techniques and strategies to make changes outside of our sessions.
WHAT ABOUT CONFIDENTIALITY?
Everything we discuss in session is confidential. Any written notes or material is kept securely with strict adherence to data protection regulations. All therapists have duty of care towards their clients and when we are working together if issues around serious risk of harm to the self or others arise we may have to disclose information to 3rd parties.
